Mess L

The building named Mess L is located at the intersection of Garuda Street and Merpati Street, in the Komet neighborhood of Banjarbaru. The name "Mess L" is derived from the fact that the building is shaped like the letter "L." Its history dates back to the golden era of Indonesia's relationship with the Soviet Union. Originally, it was built as accommodation for Russian industrial workers during the time when Indonesia and the Soviet Union had strong ties. The building was initially constructed to house staff and engineers from the Soviet Union who were working on the Kalimantan Iron and Steel Project.
